Bio
My experience in motorsports is wide and varied. I am admittedly
the worst spectator known to mankind and therefore have to be in the
middle of the action. Hailing originally from western New York, I began
interest with drag racing when in high school, then took a hiatus during
college to focus on becoming an engineer so I could afford the kinds of
toys that would keep me happy. I purchased a Saturn coupe in the mid-90s
and campaigned it successfully garnering successive regional class
championships in the WNY-SCCA series. When the WRX was released to North
America I had the first one in Buffalo and brought home consecutive DS
championships once again, but was really just biding my time for my real
car (WRX STi) to come to the states. I became progressively more
involved in WNY-SCCA region and was awarded worker of the year twice and
was the solo chairman in 2003 and the first half of 2004 until my move
to California. Just prior to my move to California I was campaigning my
current STi in SM and doing quite well with consistant top 10 PAX
finishes overall. I was also a novice and intermediate driving
instructor and really took great pleasure introducing new people to the
sport and sharing their enthusiasm. I still enjoy riding along with
people to give constructive feedback.
I also have a very active passion for performance rally and served as
crew chief for the Great Northern Racing team headed by Jon Bottoms in
the now defunct SCCA Group N. Jon brought home second place in GrpN in
2004 and I like to think that I played a part even though I had moved
part way through the season and missed the final stretch where he really
caught on fire. My work with Great Northern has led me to a recurring
role as a service mechanic with the Autosport Engineering rally team. My
mechanic skills find me out in the garage or in someone else's garage
often. I enjoy learning and helping others learn about what works and
what doesn't work for Imprezas as well as for racing setups in general.
My focus the past two years has been more on track days and less on
competitive autocross. I just don't have the time to dedicate to the
competition and the constant drive and expense for the "hot" setup is
not compatible with my professional and personal schedule. I really
enjoy the Streets of Willow track and hope to hit the big track at
Willow Springs, Buttonwillow as well as Laguna Seca and other tracks in
the west.
